Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

An finally, this big boy turns 20. Heading towards full-fledged adulthood, leaving the last few vestages of his childhood. Really unwilling to let it go.. Haha of course I'm not gonna. Will always be the Bong that you guys know and love (i hope?) Hee..

Looking back and reflecting, the past year was really a good one. So many key things happened, some happy some not so happy, but nonetheless, whatever happened has built me up as a person, a friend, a soldier, a boyfriend.. well it just goes on. I really feel stronger in terms of character. Maybe?

Sigh.. 1 year just flown by.. Wondering if some decisions I made were right? I mean.. I could be like getting ready to get the all powerful feeling of ORDing. Haha will I ever have that feeling? Really hoping that won't come 1 whole year later.. Another year and I think I will be so very sian. Its true, man cant stay doing 1 job forever. Really wishing I could be back in school. Envying my Ops Spec Kenneth, who is about to defer for studies. Just wish I could follow him too.

Army has moulded me, for better or for worse, I can't say for sure. But I've matured. I've seen more in life now. I have had my glimpses of the working coporate world. I've earned paychecks. Haha guess you could say I have experienced more than the average dude out there.

And a big Thank You to Zelda, who was with me when the clock hit 12. Who showered so much care and concern for me. Who got such a beautiful present for me. Thank you so much. Couldn't have asked for more..

And to my course-mates who suprised me with a birthday cake. I was really touched guys. Thanks so much.

And to God, who has really blessed me so much. My cup runs over with his blessings. Makes me wonder each day whether I really deserve all this.

Whew! Went runnin today.. It was so good.. Now I know what Pye was talking about, letting your mind go free, thinking about nothing in particular, no cares, nothing, just the soft (or hard) breathing of yourself and the cool breeze in your face.

It was when I really felt at peace.

To say the truth, I always hoped for a relaxed pace of life, being able to relax, have a ice cool beverage by the pool, read a book here and there, laze in the bath, and finally succumb to the embrace of sleep in a big comfy bed. Or maybe to revel in the outside world with friends and loved ones.

I naive I was.

Its really quite impossible to have all these, as I found out over the years and even more so in the real working life at the age of 20. (haha yes I admit, I'm 20 soon..) The biggest constraint there is: Money. How ironic that the thing that men have killed for ever since its invention is also our lifeblood. We can't really live without it. We can't do much without it. And we definately want it for the betterment of our physical lives as well as the lives of our loved ones.

Is this Greed?

I can't say. I have had a couple of brushes with the greed of money and I must say I'm lucky to get away pretty much unaffected. I know that being greedy is bad, but even for the motive of providing? Well of course I know the answer from the Bible, and I accept it. Nonetheless, the call for more hard cash is ever strong, having entered the working world. So many times I dream of the life described above. Haha I think it would cost a million bucks and more.. Oh well, at least I do have some things that are priceless: My God, my family, and Zelda.

Hard reality.

I ain't prolly ever be rich. Well-to-do perhaps, depending how my career takes of. My plans for the future? Hazy. Well I can make out some landmarks: A car, a home of my own, if i'm lucky, a family too ^^ But how to get there? Totally blur.

Am I thinking too far?

Perhaps. But then again, Its never too early to plan right? Right now, I think a car is quite possible, just that.. I dun wanna be eatin grass, know what I mean? Haha.. My pay sucks.. Oh well, still better than so many people my age right? At least I don't have to rely on my parents financially anymore.

Alright, guess thats enough from me.. Haha dun worry bout me though, just some random topic that came out. Lol won't let this affect me much. Cheers guys! World Cup's commin! Haha hoping beyond hope that England makes it.

Boredom

Sigh.. I spent the entire day at home.. can't believe it.. Really something that only happens when you're a loser and a bloody couch potato who only sits on the sofa and play game for hours on end.. I played about 6 in one sitting I think.. Might have been more..

2 meetings in a day cancelled. 1 with the NP ppl and another with the BP gang.. Grr.. why.. Its not like anyday I free lor.. Anyways, why do people always peg their attendance on others? Has'nt been the first time.. If we're all friends then even if its 3 or 4 ppl in the end does it really matter?

To say the truth I really miss all my friends.. Haven seen many of them for so very long.. too long in fact. We really went on with our individual lives.. Is this what they call independence? Can't friedship coexist with working/uni life? Really makes me which I was still in PJC.. So easy to go out together, so much time to use up in the weekends.. So few worries..

Especially missing these ppl:

My Jie Meis, The BP, NP and PJ gang, My bros TY and KT, My tu di, the soccer guys, Lyn and Sandy and of cuz most of all Zelda.. who will be away on camp for a week or so.. Sigh.. Miss you guys and gals lots!

Wow wee! Yesterday was the first time I saw what luxury hotel means.. We had the priviledge (the connections rather) to get a tour around the Fullerton Hotel. And boy are those rooms really nice!

It was crazy, imagine being inside a presidential suite? A total eye opener. The room was really so posh! Beautiful toilet, beautiful bed.. Heck there's even a lift and a grand piano inside!! We went out to the balcony too (its air-conditioned mind you) and this is what it looks like..

Haha of course we visited a few other rooms, but yeah.. really can't compare with this one lor.. Lol there was this loft suite, which was a 2-story room. Super chio too.. We were all excited like mad, started planning on throwing some party/event in this hotel room le.. Something like a mass bdae celebration or whatever we can think of haha..

Sigh.. wish I could spend a few nights there some day.. super romantic lor! wah..

Yup, so we moseyed around the area acting like idiots haha.. think we were really extra.. hehe poor owner of this beautiful car..

Wee! Really an eye-opener baby!
